So, Do Vision Boards Really Work?

NOT ALWAYS!

That is, if you think you can just put together some images and words on a poster board or canvas and store it away – NOPE, it probably won’t do much in that case.

I’ve had people tell me that their vision board was fun to make but it never did anything for them.

It’s TRUE, if you don’t do anything with it, it won’t work!

Vision boards are a great tool to help:

- Keep you focused on what you want
- Keep you on track with your goals
- Bring your attention back to what you really want to create

I remember putting together my first board when I was in my 20’s.

When I look back and compare it to my more recent ones, I can see how what mattered to me then and what is important to me now has changed quite a bit.

What's super cool is looking back at my first board I made over 10 years ago and seeing just how much of it has happened.

Like, the:
✅ Car
✅ Watch
✅ Salary- I WAY surpassed that goal
✅ Career (I put a career title on my board when a

TODAY WAS THE DAY THAT I RAN INTO “HER”…

For those of you following my health journey, you know that I have been working on bringing exercise back into my life. Even though I am still limited, I do what I can do.

I recently joined the gym (it’s been YEARS) and today, I decided I was going to walk the treadmill and do some weight training.

When I got there this morning, the weight lifting area was pretty empty – I thought to myself, thank God!

After 45 minutes WALKING on the treadmill, I headed to the weight area.

I immediately felt PANIC…….

There were people in there (IMAGINE THAT)!

They were young, fit, attractive….

Oh crap! What do I do? A voice inside said, just go home and lift weights at home. Another voice said, girl, you got in the car and drove here for this, so do it!

What you may not know about me is that going to the gym in my 20’s was the norm…..I used to be certified in fitness/personal training and I was not afraid to work out.

Today, “SHE” showed up with me.

You know her.

That voice.

She said to me,...

A couple weeks ago I brought up Graziosi’s “The 4 C’s of Confidence” from his book Millionaire Success Habits and shared with you the first C which is COURAGE. If you are interested in reading more about that post, you can find it here

Can you guess what the 2nd C for Confidence would be?

 (drum roll)……..COMMITMENT

Of course, when we commit to something and stick with it we feel better about ourselves.

When you commit to an eating plan and don’t stick to it, how do you feel about yourself?  Proud? Probably not.

If you are unsure of what you are mainly committed to these days, I want you to look at two things:

  1. Your bank statements
  2. Your calendar

Where you spend your time and money will show you your commitments.  If you say you are committed to your marriage but your bank account and calendar don’t reflect much time spent together, doing something for that person or with them in mind, then at least you know where to start!

I am totally committed to my health and to personal ...

I Exercise- Why Am I Not Losing Weight?

Still think you can exercise,  eat whatever you want AND still lose weight?

Let’s take a look at just a few items on the Cheesecake Factory Menu, shall we ;)

Mac & Cheese – 1,550 calories

Sweet Potato Fries- 1,020 calories

Cobb Salad- 1,570 (not kidding)

And for dessert – Salted Caramel Cheesecake- 1,220 calories

When I was in my 20’s and first started exercising, I couldn’t understand why I was exercising 3-4 days a week, didn’t change my diet, and I wasn’t losing any weight.  I said to myself, “I went from NO exercise to exercising 4 days and I weigh and look the same?”  What’s the dilly?

Well, there are TON of benefits from exercise (I still recommend itJ) but it is not the best for weight loss if you are NOT looking at what you are putting in your mouth.

Let’s look at calories burned in exercise:

Walking for 3 miles (estimated 60 1 hr) – between 195 and 300 calories burned depending on weight

Jogging/running- you will burn the same calories about but in about half the tim...

What Being Courageous Can Look Like on ANY Ordinary Day

What do Nelson Mandela, Rosa Parks, Ghandi, Helen Keller, Victor Frankl, and Jesus Christ ALL have in common?

COURAGE

Now, if you are thinking, “well, I am no Jesus”, I get it!  BUT……many of the other amazing stories about people with courage throughout history weren’t Jesus either. They were just ordinary people who decided to be courageous.

I remember a time when I felt pretty courageous………..

I believe I just turned 20 years old.  I was making between $10-$12/hour and the minimum wage back then was $5.15/hr.  This wasn’t too shabby for someone who was still in college and lived in a smaller town.  I worked at a local hospital in the ER as a Registrar. I remember having a goal to make more money and deciding to apply for jobs where I could make more money.

After applying to a couple jobs, I got a call fairly quickly from a company where I would be doing sales.  I was told I had a draw of $4,000 a month so compared to what I was making, that was great! I had no doubt that I would ...
