Have you ever wondered why you keep repeating the same patterns, even though you've read the books, listened to the podcasts, gone to therapy, or know exactly what you should do?
The truth is, knowing isn't the same as embodying.
In this episode of The Love & Career Crossroads Podcast, I share the five principles she's learning to practice every day to stop living from old patterns and start creating from a new identity.
Where you place your attention determines where your energy goes.
Why the present moment is your greatest source of creative power.
How your internal state influences the thoughts you're tuning into.
Why changing your environment can change your thinking.
What "timeline residue" is and why your external reality may lag behind your internal transformation.
How to create an alignment filter that helps you make decisions from who you're becoming instead of who you've been.
Whether you're navigating ch...
Now, going somewhere alone isn't completely outside of my comfort zone. I've gone dancing alone. I've gone to events alone. I can walk into a place by myself.
But here's what I started noticing about how I was doing it.
I would go in.
Do what I came to do.
Avoid making too much eye contact.
And leave.
Technically, I was doing things alone.
But was I actually allowing myself to be fully present in the experience? I mean, not really.
And that's part of what this Exposure Therapy Challenge has been about for me.
This challenge started because I wanted to deliberately put myself in situations that stretched me.
Not recklessly.
Not by forcing myself into situations I genuinely don't want.
But by paying attention to those moments when my nervous system says:
Get out. Go home. Don't talk to anyone. Stay where it's comfortable.
And then experimenting with staying a littl...
Growth has become a buzzword. I mean, everyone wants to grow.
Everyone wants more confidence, better relationships, a fulfilling career, and a life that feels aligned.
But very few of us are willing to consistently put ourselves in situations that require us to become someone different.
Lately, I've been reading two books that challenged the way I think about rejection and discomfort.
Rejection Proof by Jia Jiang tells the story of intentionally seeking rejection, not because rejection is the goal, but because our fear of it quietly shapes so many of our decisions.
At the same time, I started reading Go for No, which teaches that success isn't built by avoiding "no." It's built by becoming someone who is no longer controlled by it.
Those books made me stop and ask myself...
Where am I still allowing discomfort to make my decisions for me?
The answer surprised me.
It wasn't in obvious places.
It was in small moment...
If you watched Episode 2, you probably noticed I gave myself a D.
Not exactly the inspiring ending people expect LOL.
But that's kind of the point of this series. I'm not just documenting my wins.
I'm documenting what happens when I intentionally put my nervous system into situations that feel uncomfortable and then pay attention to what it does.
This week's challenge was a fashion show.
Now, if you know me, fashion shows aren't really my thing. I don't dislike them, they just don't spark my interest. But someone in my family was participating, and I wanted to support her.
So I went.
Within about five to ten minutes, my nervous system wanted to leave. I mean granted, I wasn't thrilled about going anyway but I psyched myself up for it.Ā
NothingĀ bad happened. No one was rude. No one made me feel unwelcome.
There wasn't some dramatic moment. I just... wanted out.
Now, years ago, I probably would've listened to that feeling without ques...
